Implant hardware has been good for a long time. What varies between practices is the planning: whether the implant is positioned where the final tooth needs it to be, not simply where there happens to be bone.
That is a question the surgeon and the restoring dentist have to answer together. In our Phoenix office they do, because they work in the same practice. Our oral and maxillofacial surgeon is board certified. Our prosthodontist holds a specialist qualification in restoring and replacing teeth. That is a three-year training program beyond dental school, and few dentists in Arizona have completed it.

If you are losing or have lost a full arch, All-on-4® supports a fixed set of teeth on four implants, often placed in a single visit.
Because we have a prosthodontist and a licensed denturist on staff, we handle the prosthetic side here, in the same building.
Treatment starts with a consultation and 3D imaging so we can see bone volume and the position of the sinus and nerve. From there you get a written plan and a written cost before anything is scheduled.
Placement is usually done under local anesthetic. Sedation is available and is supervised by our own surgeon, a diplomate of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Most patients take it easy for a day or two.
Where the upper back jaw lacks height, a sinus lift may be needed first.

There is no single price, and anyone quoting one without looking at your jaw is guessing. Cost depends on the number of implants, whether grafting is required, and the final restoration.
You get a written estimate at consultation. We accept most insurance plans, offer financing, and have an in-house discount plan for uninsured patients.
For a straightforward single implant, commonly a few months from placement to final crown. Most of that is healing time while the implant fuses with the bone, which cannot be rushed. Cases needing grafting take longer. All-on-4 cases often leave with a fixed temporary set of teeth the same day.
They solve the problem differently. A bridge is usually quicker and cheaper up front, but it means preparing the healthy teeth either side. An implant stands on its own and helps preserve the bone where the tooth was. Which is right depends on your mouth, not on a general rule.
Failures are uncommon but they happen, most often from infection, smoking, or uncontrolled medical conditions affecting healing. Because the surgeon and prosthodontist are in the same practice, both of them assess the problem together.
You can, but smoking measurably raises the risk of failure because it affects healing and blood supply to the site. We will be straight with you about that risk.
Yes. We take referrals for implant, oral surgery and prosthodontic work, and we send patients back to their own dentist for routine care. Referring practices can find our details on our referrals page.
