If you regularly take medication, including vitamins, over-the-counter medication, or supplements, be sure to tell your doctor prior to your visit.

In addition to any medication you are taking, you should also inform your dentist about any other health issues you may have. These may include a congenital heart defect, history of bacterial endocarditis, diabetes, weakened immune system, liver disease, adrenal disease, thyroid disease, damaged heart valves, renal disease, an artificial joint, or hypertension.

Inform Your Dentist on your Prior Conditions

Letting your dentist know about such conditions prior to your appointment can allow him or her to monitor you as those conditions may affect your procedure.

If you are susceptible to infection that may be associated with tooth extraction, your dentist might prescribe you antibiotics before your first appointment in an attempt to prevent this.

Be sure to let our team know if you have any of the following symptoms after your procedure: bleeding for more than 12 hours, swelling at the site, cough, chest pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, or shortness of breath.
